The functions of the Israel Association of Furniture Manufactures
The Association functions since its establishment under the auspices of The Manufactures' Association of Israel. Regulated by law, the association gears its activity to promote the welfare of its members, to represent them to the state authorities, to refresh, broaden and update their managerial and marketing skills and to help them with the vocational training at all levels.
This activity on behalf of the members is carried out by an elected managing board and its chairman, nominated by the board members.
The board holds periodical meetings to discuss current issues, sometimes transferred for further deliberations to the relevant board sub-committee; the actual daily activity decided upon by the plenum and the sub-committees is carried out by the Association manager, secretary and working team, all employees of The Manufactures' Association of Israel.
The board summons the Association members to periodical general meeting, in which members are briefed and their opinions solicited.
It is worthwhile mentioning that the Association also sponsors a bimonthly magazine featuring technological and managerial articles and design sections. This magazine is distributed free of charge to all active participants in the furniture industry, as a means to promote and update their know-how and improve the image of the industry as a whole.
However, the Israel Association of Furniture Manufactures also engages in business - oriented activity. This activities are carried out by the Commercial Co., Wood Products & Furniture Export Co. Ltd. and TIM - Exhibitions & Trade Fairs Co. Ltd., established by the Association.
TIM - Exhibitions & Trade Fairs Co. Ltd. carry out local trade fairs such as Rihutim (Hebrew for furniture), which takes place yearly since 1977 and is frequented by some 160 thousand people, Kitchen & Bathroom, Windows & Doors and Building Exhibition (held in conjunction with the Building Forum).
Members, importers and non-member enterprises are allowed to participate as exhibitors in these fairs. The Association also attributes great importance to activities aimed at encouraging exports by the member enterprises, therefore, coordinates joint manufacture to fill orders by foreign distributors or contractors and joint participation by member enterprises in International Trade Fairs, extending the participants logistical and other assistance.
Why is it worthwhile to keep in touch with us?
For many reasons, mainly:
- The Israeli manufactures enterprises command high technical skills, especially where uniqueness of design is involved;
- We are able to organize concerted action to carry out specific projects;
- The State of Israel is the only country in the world having preferential free trade agreements with both, the European Community and the United States;
- Many member enterprises have a surplus capacity and are looking for options of merger with strategic partners abroad;
- Israeli furniture manufacturers may serve as a bridgehead to future dealings in Arab countries.
We shall be happy to supply further information if you contact us or visit us.
